Common Types of Warts

Different warts call for different solutions. To ensure you would get rid of warts effectively, you first need to identify the type of warts you have.

Warts are usually painless. But as they grow they can look gross and annoying especially when they have developed in very visible part of the body. Warts differ in size and texture-others can be rough while some are smooth and flat. Warts begin in small sizes and grow together in clusters.

Here are some of the different types of warts:

Common warts

  • Common warts – As its name suggest, common warts are the ‘most common’ of all types of warts. They grow on hands, fingers, elbows and knees. They are usually dome shaped and have a rough, grayish-brown color with black dots.

Juvenile warts (also known as “flat warts”)

  • Juvenile warts (also known as “flat warts”) - These warts are the kind of warts found in children. They are small and smooth, and have flat surfaces. Flat warts range from pink to brown to yellow, and are commonly found in the face, arms, hands and knees.

Plantar warts

  • Plantar warts – This kind of warts meanwhile are painful. They can be found in the soles of the foot. When the wart hits the ground or feels pressure, you would sure shout with pain. Plantar warts can be avoided by not walking barefoot in wet, public places such as the gym locker or at the public pool. Foot hygiene is also a must, so change your socks everyday to maintain clean and dry feet.
     
  • Filiform warts – These are finger-shaped warts and adapt one’s skin color. They usually grow around the eyes, nose or mouth.

  • Donkey warts – These warts are pink or red in color, and are commonly found in the genital area.
